Making Baby Food : It’s What I do Now

Let me preface this post with this – babies are expensive dude!! Between diapers, clothes, toys, furniture and now food?! C’non. I emailed my husband today and told him the baby cost me more at the grocery store this week than my portion of the bill. How does that even happen, he’s a small baby human!!

So this is one thing I have learned about my child in the few short months I have had him – he basically despises pureed foods and prefers food with more texture. I guess he feels like he’s royalty or something.

Anyways, I ended up googling “how to feed my baby textured foods”, and I came across some awesome baby food recipes. Thank god for google.

This is the website I found –  http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/babyfingerfood.htm

I bought about 2700 ingredients to make 55 recipes (okay maybe not that many, but it might as well have been). This recipe though…I want to bathe in it. Baby food is suppose to be repulsive right? Nope. This should be a human recipe.

Broccoli and Cheddar Cheese Nuggets

All it is is a package of frozen (then cooked) broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, a mixture of rice cereal and breadcrumbs and egg yolk. Form that into little patties, sprinkle a baking sheet with olive oil and bake them in the oven.

I want to serve these little crumpets at a dinner party. Like “heyyy eat on of these bad boys  people, I mean they are meant for babies, but really, just eat them”. Or maybe something not as creepy.

  1. Um… Why don’t you live closer to me? I would totally buy these off of you. Liza also doesn’t like purées. But she is loving anything I cut up into a stick and give her. Total opposite of David.
